Vancouver Island Events Website

About Us

HarbourLiving.ca began as "Nanaimo's Event's Website" in  September 2005. Tired of rummaging through recycled newspapers for what was going on, and even more tired of reading articles of events already past,  HarbourLiving.ca was born more out of  my sanity than anything else.

Dave and I took this project on ourselves. We had found sites that said they knew what was going on, but really didn't. HL was and is meant to be a comprehensive resource of events. Our philosphy is, "Provide good information and people will keep coming back."

This is our baby. It's all run privately, funded by the businesses and organizations who advertise on the website or in the weekly email.  This is how it is kept as a free community resource. So if you would be a dear and visit their stores, websites, etc. we'll all get along wonderfully.

I (Mindi) am an Islander, born and raised in the Comox Valley.  HarbourLiving.ca is now what I do fulltime. I'd like to say it beats 9-5, but now it's more like 9-9. I lived in Victoria for a while and now settled in Nanaimo.

Dave is an Alberta boy who really should have been born on Vancouver Island. Socks and sandles. Need I say more? Dave is a Voice Actor as well as the Morning Show host for The Wave 102.3 FM in Nanaimo.

Goliath and indiana

Goliath and Indiana are the great equalizers in our home. They remind us there's a lot of forest to see and trails to hike. If you happen to be out around Mt. Benson, look twice before you call Animal Control. More than once, Goliath has been mistaken for a Black Bear chomping on a stick.

Since returning to the Island, we have taken up all those things it means to be "Islandy". Our garden isn't much to speak of (except our raspberries and strawberries) this season due to landscaping. Just our luck. We'll have to spend our weekends at the river rather than weeding.

We're really looking forward to getting to know more of you and helping connect you with other event-adventurers. Keep your eyes open for events up and down the island. There are some amazing things happening in your city, but this island is full of great events.

See you there!

Mindi & Dave Pettitt
