DANCING WITH YOUR SOUL:
THE NEXT STEP

"Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power,
and magic in it." ~Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

We invite you to join us in a new way of exploring the soul's rich mysteries.
We have put together a workshop approach to "dancing with your soul - the next step." We’ve found from personal experience that the times when we have to seek the next step in our lives are extraordinarily rich opportunities for growth.

We will be mixing together a variety of techniques, starting with imagery generated in the conscious mind, the body, and the hypnagogic (or meditative trance) state, and/or in dreams (both individual and shared). Then we'll explore several dramatizing techniques to help unlock the opportunities that live (even if they seem frozen) in each moment.

We hope to assist participants to discover and integrate new ground inward, and new growth outward.

If the work looks promising to you, and the timing fits your life, we'd love to have you join us.

Mark Hein, Phd

Mark is an imaginal therapist who specializes in group based realization techniques –
from actively exploring dreams to dramatizing internal conflicts and external configurations. He holds a special place of honor in his work for the Earth and all its families, and for the constant movement of soul towards growth and wholeness.

Mark did his doctoral studies at Pacifica Graduate Institute in southern California,
the only post-Jungian depth psychology center in the US. While visiting BC some 15 years ago, he helped found Living Tree Counseling Center in Shawnigan Lake, where he demonstrated active dream exploration. He also co-directed a programme for First Nations youth in Duncan, using group-dreaming techniques to find and tell a community’s stories in media from dance to TV news, and he consulted with a practice serving battered women in Victoria.

Mark has written on the complex relations of fathers and daughters (he has two, now in their late twenties, pursuing careers in New York City); on vampire figures as icons of healing; and on the ‘fated love’ experience as an explosive catalyst for inner and outer change. He has spent the past dozen years working as a therapist and in theatre (as an award winning actor and director) in Los Angeles.

Mark is joining fellow facilitator Kate Marsh in designing group experiences that will use enacted imagery from the body, from life situations and from dreams to explore ‘stuck’ places in life as moments when the potential for growth is most powerful.

Kate Marsh, CSW

Kate has facilitated workshops and retreats on personal growth and spiritual development, since 1995. Her programmes range from ways to create a sustainable life to women’s empowerment weekends. They include introductory and mastery courses (in person and via teleseminar) on simple, effective, strength-based, positive strategies and practices, inspired by The Virtues Project, that assist people to discover who they really are, and begin to live from their core.

A mother and grandmother, Kate has studied in the fields of child and youth care as well as early childhood education. Her professional development includes reiki, tai chi, PRH (Personality and Human Relationships) and she has done extensive personal and intra-personal ‘work’ spanning three decades. She is a Certified Master Facilitator/Trainer with Virtues Project International.

Kate holds a certificate in Social Work from Vancouver Island University, and has worked with individuals, parents, teachers, non-profits, First Nations communities and corporations in the US and Canada.

Internationally recognized as a mentor in ‘The Art of Spiritual Companioning’ TM, Kate holds the belief that the answers to life’s issues are within -- ‘The soul is its own source of unfolding” (Heraclitus) -- and she has the ability to create and sustain a safe container within which discovery is not only possible, but inevitable.

In addition to her presenting and consulting work Kate is exploring and designing group experiences with fellow facilitator, Dr. Mark Hein, that will use enacted imagery from the body, from life situations and from dreams to explore ‘stuck’ places in life as moments when the potential for growth is most powerful.

Participants will be 'in residence'. The Hospice building is a converted house, which boasts a kitchen and living room, but no beds. Foamies, bedding, towels, etc will have to be brought with you and sleeping will be more dormitory style, though the space is large and small corners can easily be carved out. An additional donation earmarked to Hospice would be welcomed.

Food can be stored in the fridge -- and once we discover who will be there for which meals, we may do some 'organizing' to make it more potluck.
