A Woman's Guide to Peeing Outside & Other Adventures

Written and performed by Victoria’s Holly Brinkman, "A Woman's Guide to Peeing Outside & Other Adventures" was a huge hit at the 2017 Montreal and Victoria fringe festivals. And now it comes to Nanaimo! In it, Brinkman uses the occasion of a (fictional) book talk to offer a panoply of crisp and funny tips on modern female living, many inspired by her own journey from celebrity-obsessed teen in rural BC, to romance with the chef-of-her-dreams in Montreal (guess how that ends), to expert on “The Assisted Pee Over Water.”
“Brinkman is a lovely storyteller who knows how to get a laugh,” says montrealtheatrehub.com. Says Victoria theatre reviewer Janis La Couvée: “Brinkman is assured in her delivery, with a sardonic and observant wit. A Titanic-themed cameo is particularly funny . . . . [She] lends a modern feminist lens to her stories, reflecting her slow awakening to the notion of gender fluidity. “Bold, modern and unabashed, this coming-of-age tale strikes a chord across the generations.”
Says Holly: “You’ll laugh. You’ll cry. You’ll try not to pee your pants.”
