If you look closely at books on aging, you find that the focus of many books is actually on anti-aging rather than healthy aging. What keeps us from moving into our later years with a sense of anticipation and excitement? Is it denial? Is it fear? Chittister (2008) describes the blessing of this fear that �comes to us in the night time of the soul to tell us to rise to new selves in fresh and exciting ways � for our sake and for the sake of the rest of the world.� What do I want to leave as my legacy as co-creator of the world around me?

What am I struggling to accept in my aging experience?

How do I experience spirituality in my daily life?

How would I describe the meaning that I make in my later years?

What is the legacy that I will leave to my family, friends, and the universe?

During our time together we will explore these and other questions that you may have about the spiritual journey of aging.

Lucia Gamroth worked with older persons and nurses (students) who were interested in working with older persons much of her life. In particular, Lucia is interested in what it is like for persons moving into and through the later years in their lives. How does each of us make meaning from our experiences of aging?

Mary Ann Gisler is a Clinical Social Worker and Theologian. She has extensive experience as a counsellor, walking with individuals on their spiritual journeys. Much of her professional practice has been supporting persons during times of loss and grief.
