Alberni Valley Transition Towns Society will be hosting a presentation entitled Unlocking The Value, a proposal to revitalize rail transport on Vancouver Island. The presentation is put forward by Mr. Tim McNeil, a retired engineer who continues to keep active following a career at Atomic Energy Canada.. There will be a discussion to follow the presentation, primarily about rail transport and the possibilities it might open for communities up and down Vancouver Island, but particularly as it relates to Port Alberni. There may very well be time for broader discussion about broader issues relating to transportation in, around, into and out of the Alberni Valley. We are hoping to have input from both the City of Port Alberni and from the Regional District of Alberni-Clayoquot. Everyone is welcome to attend and to add insight and perspective to the discussion. There is no charge for admission. The presentation will be held at Char�s Landing, 4815 Argyle Street, starting at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2013. http://alberni.ca/node/6712
