7:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Adad Hannah creates epochal, serial artworks in installation, video and photography. In March 2020, while Canadians retreated to their homes, Hannah took to the streets to capture this moment in time. Over the course of a year, Hannah created 237 video portraits showcasing the rapid evolution of our everyday lives.

Join Adad Hannah and India Young for an in-person conversation about Hannah's Social Distancing Portraits series. The conversation will be moderated by by Jennifer Van de Pol.

Adad Hannah was born in New York in 1971, spent his first ten years in Israel and England, and moved to Vancouver in the early 1980's. His artworks draw upon the history of photography and cinema to examine media's role in the art historical canon and invite audiences to place themselves within a given moment in history. Hannah earned a BFA from Emily Carr College of Art and Design and an MFA and PhD from Concordia University. He lives and works in Vancouver.

India Young joined the Royal BC Museum in 2019 as the curator for art and images. She oversees the collections of paintings, prints, drawings and photographs, which are primarily housed in the BC Archives. Young's research and exhibitions trace North American art histories through feminist, decolonial and critical race frameworks.
