Tue, Oct 20th, 7-9pm, Concert – Smith & Devoin - Real Roots Rock ! - Roots Jazz Blues Country Andrea Smith was born and raised in BC’s Kamloops/Shuswap area. This cowgirl and wanderer has had a few careers as a certified guide outfitter and farrier, a registered massage therapist and a music teacher.

She received her music degree in 2011and has produced three albums of original music. Andrea has received a total of eight Vancouver Island Music Award nominations. In 2007 she won Female Songwriter of the year and her album “Sweet Embrace” took home Producer and Engineer of the year. In 2014 her album “Transition” received two nominations (rock song and country song of the year) and her music video “Moonlight Shine” was nominated for video of the year. In 2005 Andrea won first place in the Songwriting Category at the Shuswap International Writers Festival. She has been fortunate in sharing the stage with some of Canada’s great jazz musicians including Don Thompson and Phil Dwyer.

Her songwriting crosses many genre’s with rock, blues, jazz and country roots having a strong presence in her songwriting and choice of cover songs.

Marisha Devoin has been performing with Andrea for the last 10 years! (Can you believe it?!) Since graduating from Vancouver Island University's Ba. Music program Marisha has performed in pit bands for musical productions with Chemainus Theatre, Arts Club Theatre & Patrick Street Productions (Vancouver), as well as cruise ship orchestras and cabaret bands. She works as a session musician, and educator in her burgeoning Nanaimo studio, and can be heard playing jazz, R&B, bluegrass (Hub City Ramblers), and prog rock (Eleanore) around the west coast.
