West Coast Winter Music presents their final concert of the season with Louise Rose, and friends Kelby MacNayr on drums and Russell Botten on bass.

Canadian musician Russell Botten is a bassist, arranger and educator residing in Vancouver, B.C. He has performed with many well known jazz artists such as Renee Rosnes, Jeff Hamilton, Benny Green, Herb Ellis, Diana Krall, Russell Malone, Clark Terry, Scott Hamilton and Harry Allen and appeared on dozens of recordings. He has also performed on many CBC radio, stage, film and televisions productions.

One of Canada’s most impressive jazz drummers, Kelby MacNayr plays nationally and internationally, and works as a faculty member at the renowned Port Townsend Jazz Festival. His long list of A-list collaborators includes Hugh Fraser, Misha Piatigorsky, and Phil Dwyer. MacNayr makes music that is fresh, exciting and dazzlingly alive.

For Louise Rose, music is much more than a vocation; it is, in her own words, the perfect metaphor for life itself. As such it permeates all that she does, while in the process touching the lives of those around her in a supremely positive way. Louise Rose is the consummate performer. A talented pianist, vocalist and actress, Louise was formally trained in piano, organ, voice, conducting and arranging. Some of her studies were with Oscar Peterson, Duke Ellington and Leonard Bernstein. Louise sings and plays jazz, blues, gospel, standards, plus an extensive repertoire of original music. She'll weave her harmonious web of sounds with her voice and lush piano stylings.
