David Essig has been immersed in the musical traditions of folk, bluegrass and country blues for over 40 years. Over the decades David has played coffeehouses and house concerts across Canada and every major folk festivals and has found a following in Italy and other European countries. David writes in narrative style of his literary heroes, Alden Nowlan, Raymond Carver and Richard Ford, with the intense, blues-flavoured slide guitar playing that’s often associated with Ry Cooder.
For David, it’s been a “long, sweet, ride” and he is still vital and in the saddle performing songs, old and new, and sliding his socket wrench on his guitar with the best of them. David Essig’s is an unassuming national treasure who deserves to be celebrated. You won’t be disappointed.
