FPSE Speakers' Tour in Nanaimo: Mr. Paul Manly

The Federation of Post-Secondary Educators' "Human Rights and International Solidarity Committee" is coordinating a provincial Speakers Tour initiative again this year.
This year, whereas 2013 is the UN International Year of Water Cooperation; and whereas the 2012 FPSE AGM encouraged locals to promote and engage in initiatives and events that increase awareness around safe and clean water, the Speakers Tour that visits multiple campuses this November will focus on water issues, including how they are affected by extractive industries.
Pauls FPSE Speakers Tour presentations will feature clips from his feature length documentary You, Me and The SPP and from his most recent film, Troubled Water which documents the threats to public water systems on the East Coast of Vancouver Island.
As an national board member of the Council of Canadians (representing the BC/Yukon regional chapters), Paul is savvy to the industrial impact of industry on BC watersheds and his presentations will encourage audiences to work toward maintaining water as a public trust in their own communities.
