GIDEON LEVY: "ISRAELI ELECTIONS: WHAT NEXT FOR ISRAEL-PALESTINE?"

Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) cordially invites you to hear renowned Israeli journalist, Gideon Levy, in Victoria, on Sat., March 28, at 7:00pm.
Mr. Levy, a journalist with the Israeli daily newspaper Ha'aretz since 1982, & currently on its editorial board, will be arriving in Canada just days after the March 17 Israeli elections. He will talk about the Palestine-Israel conflict in light of these elections, in a lecture entitled "Israeli Elections: What next for Israel-Palestine?" A Q&A period will immediately follow the lecture.
Mr. Levy will also discuss his experiences of government pressure on Israeli media, including his detention by Israeli security forces in December of last year; his perspective on how mainstream Israeli media deal with the nuances of internationally controversial Israeli policy; and his perspective on the role & responsibility of Israeli media to inform the Israeli public.
Levy has earned the ire of the Israeli public for his damning reports on Israel's occupation of Palestine and its attendant horrors. His goal has been to record the increasing & evermore rapid accumulation of Israeli war crimes & human rights abuses in the illegally occupied Palestinian territories. Levy is a strong critic of Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians & a strong supporter of the boycott of Israel. Levy has also questioned the viability of the “two-state solution".
In a 2008 interview with the British newspaper The Independent, Levy was positioned as “the most hated man in Israel”, a charge which Levy himself considered inaccurate at the time. However, after reporting on Israel's most recent assault on Gaza, Occupied Palestine, in July-August 2014, Levy has conceded that this title may now be apt.
Please examine a recent article by Gideon Levy: "Jerusalem, the capital of apartheid, awaits the uprising". http://www.haaretz.com/opinion/.premium-1.622206
