St. Margaret’s School and The Fairmont Empress will be sharing their 110th birthday celebrations with an elegant afternoon anniversary tea. Both founded in 1908, St. Margaret’s School (SMS) and the Fairmont Empress also shared the same original architect, Sir Francis Rattenbury. Today SMS is the only all-girls school on Vancouver Island and was the first in Canada to launch a girls’-only STEM focused curriculum.
The 110th Anniversary Tea is a fundraiser for SMS Scholarships and Bursaries, and will feature keynote speaker Sally Armstrong, the award-winning author, journalist and human rights activist speaking about the power of girls to change the world, citing examples from her book, “Ascent of Women”.
