4:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Photographs tell an amazing story about the Gold Rush! But the photographers themselves are another story all-together. This talk and demonstration will take a closer look at the how and why of photographs taken during BC’s gold rush

Presenters Curator Don Bourdon Don has worked as an archivist for 30 years and served as manager of access services for BC Archives for six years. In 2013, he brought his expertise to bear in a new Royal BC Museum position charged with curating and raising the profile of the collection’s more than five million photographs, paintings drawings and prints.

Known for his holistic approach to acquisition and management of multi-disciplinary collections, Don was involved in significant acquisitions, preservation management and public access programs at museums in BC and Alberta. Quinton Gordon and Diana Millar Quinton and Diana are the driving force and creative team behind Luz Studios. You’ll usually find Quinton working his magic from behind the camera, and Diana in the darkroom perfecting her chemical recipes and the alchemy of wet plate photography.
