Hook by the Sea

Rug hooking began in the eighteenth century in eastern Canada. Women created lovely works of art for their floors by cutting strips of cloth scrapes from clothes, rags, sacks and nylons. The rug hooker pulled the strips of cloth up through the burlap with a hook creating a loop on the top of the burlap. Today rug hooking uses the same method as in the eighteenth century.
Hook by the Sea is an event that gathers together rug hookers from all across Canada and United States and other parts of the world. These rug hookers use their artistic talents as an expression of themselves in the pattern, choice of colors, texture and design. The retreat gathers together fellow rug hookers for a weekend of hooking, sharing stories and talents, laughter and the sharing of their finished project.
If you are a beginner or advanced rug hooker and would like to take part now is the time.
If you are curious and would like to see what this is all about visit Saturday pm. A visit is free.
