Andrew Cohen is an award-winning Canadian journalist, a bestselling author and a Journalism and International Affairs professor at Carleton University. His passion has led him from McGill to Carleton, then to Cambridge and, most recently, to the German Institute for International and Security Affairs in Berlin.
Cohen has worked in Canada and abroad for The Ottawa Citizen, United Press International, Time, The Financial Post, Saturday Night and The Globe and Mail. He has written and co-edited six books, including While Canada Slept: How We Lost Our Place in the World, a national bestseller and finalist for the Governor Generals Literary Award for Non-Fiction, and his latest, Extraordinary Canadians: Lester B. Pearson. He has been honored with two National Newspaper Awards, three National Magazine Awards and the Queens Jubilee Medal.
No one is more apt to talking about the fascinating life of Lester B. Pearson. From his involvement with NATO and the UN, his peace-brokering during the 1957 Suez Crisis -a feat that earned him the Nobel Peace Prize- to his two terms as Prime Minister, a period during which he introduced Medicare, the CPP, the Commission on Bilingualism and Biculturalism, the Auto Pact, and the new flag.
