Invisible Children, an organization dedicated to helping child soldiers in Uganda, is coming to the University of Victoria.
Representatives from the organization will deliver a presentation about Ugandas civil war, the longest lasting war in Africa. Invisible Children focuses on the children who are both the weapons and the victims in the conflict. Using powerful video footage and the power of story, the Invisible Children presenters will seek to inspire people to stand up for the child soldiers of Uganda.
This presentation is part of Invisible Childrens Legacy Tour, which brings former child soldiers from Uganda to North America to speak about their experiences. The UVic presentation is one of five events in Victoria. Other local presentations will be held at Western Washington University, Claremont Secondary School, and Spectrum Community School.
UVic clubs dedicated to global action will have information tables outside the auditorium before and after the presentation. Local musician Mike Bahrey will provide entertainment before the presentation. Admission is by donation. The event is in the David Lam Auditorium.
