Anyone active in the wood industry value chain will want to participate in the Forum to explore how to strengthen and diversity value-added manufacturing on Vancouver Island--addressing issues such as secure fibre supply and opportunities to produce new products.

Are there business to business opportunities for secure access to fibre?
Would a 'clearing house'/distribution network improve access to fibre?
How can investment in technology open markets for higher quality products?
Might private, community and First Nations forest holdings present opportunities for small scale, local, joint ventures?
What could government do to incentivize investment in manufacturing?
Is one person's wood waste another person's treasure? How can stakeholders coordinate for cost effective salvage and transport?

The Showcase will offer opportunities to exhibit products and/or services to manufacturers as well as builders, contractors, designers, engineers, architects, developers and property managers to a broad range of interior and exterior wood products being manufactured on Vancouver Island.

The Industry Forum will feature four sessions between 9:00am to 12:00 pm focused on ‘next steps’ to take advantage of emerging industry opportunities and to find solutions to persistent challenges.

The Wood Product Showcase will feature manufacturers and artisans exhibiting their products from 12:00 pm to 4:00pm—with a light lunch and networking.

This Showcase and Forum is a result of three years of work by VIEA to help expand markets and diversify value-added wood manufacturing on Vancouver Island.
