Jon Matwiv and Emerald Specks from Ladysmith perform original alternate-folk rock music at the Duncan Showroom on March 22.

Jon Matwiv (a.k.a. Mericana) is a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist originally from Vancouver Island and now living in Edmonton, Alberta. He's been a part of the western Canadian music scene for over 15 years in various roles and bands (Seven Suns, Murder City Sparrows, Melissa Majeau, Somatic, Citizen Strange and others), while in recent years out of the public eye while writing, recording, being a parent and pursuing entrepreneurship.
His raw and edgy performances elicit comparisons from Ray Lamontagne to Glen Hansard (Swell Season) and from Jeff Buckley to Ian Thornley (Big Wreck) -a sound which can be best summarized as alternative/folk/rock. http://www.reverbnation.com/mericana
