Art Napoleon
Art may be known best as host of the popular international food show Moosemeat & Marmalade but he is also an award-winning songwriter and recording artist. He walks in Dztwo worldsdz, equally comfortable on a big city stage or boardroom, as he is skinning a moose in a hailstorm with a pocketknife. Musically, Art’s work travels through folk, to rock, country, blues and traditional Cree. Whether he’s re-interpreting Tom Petty or Bob Marley in Cree or teaching the language through music, you won’t find a more eloquent voice on the power and value of preserving ancient Indigenous languages anywhere in Canada. Art is known as an on-stage humorist with an uncanny ability to improvise and engage audiences of all ages. Based in Victoria BC, Art remains connected to his home territory and his Cree and Dane Zaa roots. When he is not producing TV he tours regularly as a performer and speaker and also serves as a juror on arts & culture organizations across Canada. His moose stew has been known to cure hangovers and his campfire tales have mended broken hearts…or so the stories go. Art will join the Joy of Life Choir on Saturday, May 5 for Joy of Song!
