First ever CD release party for Kumbana marimba!
Kumbana is youth marimba band with 10 members aged 17-22. Kumbana has been very well received from people of all ages at events ranging from large music festivals to busking. The up-beat dance-able music played is traditional African music, with drums and other percussion thrown in. As well as mbira (where the music originated from) and violin. Opening for Kumbana is Jangano marimba, which is younger youth band taught by Kumbana whose members range in age 8-13. There will also be street busking type entertainment (juggling etc.) This will be a fun dance party for kids and adults alike (which is the beauty of marimba music and spirit). Food, drink and dessert will be provided. Admission by donation and CD sales will go towards helping Kumbana make a travel fund and future CD making. Please come out to support local youth bands and have a blast!
