What is Stroke?

Elvira is a Registered nurse with experience in acute stroke nursing at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, as well as rehabilitation nursing at NRGH since 2000. A year and a half ago, she joined the Intensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Program and has made it her mission to help people understand stroke better, and assist those in her care to make lifestyle changes that will improve their overall health and prevent further strokes.
Barb Zimmerman OT- IORP
Barb is an Occupational Therapist who graduated from the University of Alberta in 1997. She has worked at VIHA for the past 4 years at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Currently she is working in the Intensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Program.

Dr. Hunt did his medical school training in South Africa and came to Canada 27 years ago. After working in Saskatchewan as a GP for 4 years, he moved to Vancouver to complete specialization in Ob/Gyn at UBC. He has had a practice for the past 19 years in Nanaimo and has worked in the Colposcopy Clinic for the past 10 years.
