About Lonnie G
Born in Montreal and raised in Toronto, Lonnie Glass began his musical life in the 1960s singing R&B and playing bass guitar. Later, he formed a psychedelic band that toured Ontario and Quebec, played upright bass in several folk and rock bands, and in 1984 founded Tres Hombres, a ZZ Top tribute band with which he spent 27 years touring nationally and internationally. After the group disbanded in 2011, Lonnie moved to Victoria where he performs solo.
Lonnie began writing his own material in 1990 and now has a repertoire of more than 160 songs on themes ranging from historical events to personal experiences and philosophical musings, all presented with his signature bedrock vocals. “Take a cup of Tom Waits, add 1/2 cup of Leonard Cohen, 1/4 cup of Bob Dylan, and a pinch of Louis Armstrong, stir well, and you have Lonnie in a tall glass.” —Susan Scoggins, Director, Bluffton (Sask.) Historical Society.
