Victoria JazzFest presents the Melissa Aldana and Crash Trio at Hermann's Jazz Club on June 21.

There still aren't many female sax players in the jazz world, and none with the power and promise of Chilean born Melissa Aldana. Still in her 20s, Aldana won the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition in 2013.

After graduating from Berklee in 2009, Melissa moved to New York City where she resides. Quickly she has become part of the city�s jazz scene, performing with her own quartet and as a �sideman� at the best New York clubs and concert halls like, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Village Vanguard, The Blue Note , Iridium, Smalls, Jazz Gallery, Birdland Jazz club, Jazz Standard , Bar Next Door among others and alsoshares stage with some of the greatest jazz artists like Benny Golson, Greg Osby, George Coleman,Antonio Sanchez, Marc Copland, Kendrick Scott , Roberto Gatto, Paquito D'Rivera, Ben Monder,Joey Defrancesco, Peter Bernstein, Jeff "Tain" Watts, Paul Bollenback, Nir Felder, Francisco Mela, Joe Lovano, Osmany Paredes among others. www.melissaaldana.com
