Facilitator: Cliff Thorbes is Career Management Professional (CCDP), MHFA Canada Basic Instructor and Artist.
As a Career Management Professional he works with and supports people who are in the midst of a career change. He is passionate about personal and workplace well-being. A primary reason why Cliff became a MHFA Canada Instructor was to take an active role in helping reduce the stigma around mental health problems. His professional training besides Physical and Mental Health First Aid includes Bereavement and Suicide Intervention Training; Mindfulness; CBT and Motivational Interviewing for Helping Professionals.
For Cliff, the process of creating art is a primary strategy for self-care, and helps him to maintain his own mental health. He hopes that through the MHFA training he provides, participants will take away a basic understanding of mental health and mental health problems, strategies to support others who live with a mental health problem and an increased awareness for the importance of regular self-care for themselves.
