Young Gleaners
Do you see creative potential in everyday junk? In this class, let your imaginations run wild and create your own playful sculptural assemblage using found objects, scrap wood and recycled materials. For inspiration, we will tour the Gleaners exhibition in the gallery where artists create new stories with old, found and unused objects. Bring some of your own found objects and add to your 3-D creation. Given that Family Day is just around the corner, we would like to invite the parents to accompany their children on the tour of the Gleaners exhibition in the gallery from 10:30 – 11 AM. We will then run the workshop with the children from 11 – 12:30PM (an extra half hour).

Stories of Love & Friendship
Playful, spontaneous, irreverent and personal – collage your way through Valentine’s Day and make cards for your friends and family! Using paper, magazines, old photos, scissors, glue and your imagination, we will turn images on their head, tell funny stories with text, exaggerate, celebrate and strive for the unpredictable!
Saturday, February 21
Year of the Sheep Goat and Ram
Come celebrate the Chinese New Year and create pen & ink renderings inspired by Year of the Goat. According to Chinese astrology the goat is amicable, gentle, and compassionate. Using stamps, calligraphy and traditional Chinese approaches to ink painting we will experiment with line, form and textures on paper.
Saturday, February 28
Modern Mixed Media Selfie
How do you see yourself? How does the world see you? Looking at the self-portrait in art history from the mysterious Rembrandt to the intense, vibrant colors of Frida Kahlo and the playful David Hockney, these masters will inspire us to create the “new selfie” using paint, collage and drawing.
