Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra, "A Fine Harmony"

Picture a lovely warm evening in June enhanced by the warmth of the sounds of a string orchestra. The Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra presents “A Fine Harmony”, a program that includes Concerto Grosso V by Georg Händel, An English Suite by Hubert Parry, Day Dreams by Haydn Wood, and Cançoneta by Joaquin Rodrigo.
The NCO’s last concert of the season typically features, as guest soloist, the winner of the Concerto Competition for Young Musicians. This annual Competition continues to highlight the amazing talents of music students from the Mid-Island region – and provides for the winner to experience playing with an orchestra.
This year’s winner, 10-year old talented flautist Uei-Young Jung, will perform J.S. Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 2, for flute and strings. Uei-Young has been studying flute for 4 years with Cindy Speelman at the Nanaimo Conservatory of Music and is the youngest ever to win the Concerto Competition. Come, enjoy the vitality and charm of Music Director, Karl Rainer, and the music of this very live string orchestra.
