Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra: Baroque Bouquet
add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
As summer recedes and the autumn offers its harvest and bouquet of colours, the Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra begins a wonderful new season of music-making – starting with a fall program; “Baroque Bouquet”.
This All-Baroque program features guest organist, Jenny Vincent, to play Concerto for Organ, Op. 4, No. 2 by Händel and also to team up with Music Director, Karl Rainer, to play Vivaldi’s Concerto in D Minor for Organ and Violin. In addition, the Orchestra will play a strikingly varied repertoire, including Six Pieces by Lully, Concerto Grosso No. 5 by Händel, Corelli’s Christmas Concerto No. 8, Symphonie XI, No. 2 by Le Chevalier de Saint-George, and Pergolesi’s Concertino in F Minor. Jenny Vincent is a fairly recent arrival to Vancouver Island. Originally from Winnipeg and having studied organ in Rotterdam, she commands high praise – as for example: “Ms. Vincent is a superb artist who knows how to communicate with her audiences and how to make music of the highest quality. She is one of Canada's finest organists!" (James David Christie, Professor of Organ, Oberlin Conservatory of Music and Organist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra).
Two concerts are scheduled; November 25th, 7:30 pm at Brechin United Church and November 26th, 2:30 pm at Knox United Church, Parksville.
Tickets are $20 (adults) and $5 (students; under 12, free) at the Port Theatre Box Office or at the door. Website is www.nanaimochamberorchestra.com
