The Nanaimo Pride Society is hosting a week-long celebration to promote diversity and inclusiveness in the community, along with the very first Pride Parade in Nanaimo. The full schedule of events includes a flag raising, youth performances, pet parade, a dance, and more.

Please be aware that the times for each event may still change, so be sure to check back!

Flag Raising
Wednesday June 8, 2016 at 6pm, Nanaimo City Hall Grounds

The event that begins Nanaimo Pride Week, and kicks off West Coast Pride! Stand with dignitaries, Nanaimo Pride representatives, and community members as the rainbow flag is flown over City Hall and the Pride Declaration is read. Entertainment to follow.

Youth Voices of Pride
Friday June 10, 2016 at TBD, Nanaimo District Secondary School Gym

An evening with two parts -- a performance showcasing the unique voices of our queer youth, followed by an exclusively 18 and under dance! Entry to the performance is free for all youth 18 and under, and by donation over 18 at the door.

Pet Parade
Saturday June 11, 2016 at 11am, Maffeo Sutton Park

All furry and feathered pets along with their owners are invited for a parade around the waterfront. Contests, prizes, food, and fun in this all-ages, family friendly event. Pets must be pre-registered to participate. 

Pride Dance
Saturday June 11, 2016 at 8pm, Pleasant Valley Hall

DJ Teresa will be heating up the dance floor for this year's tropical theme! Door prizes, snacks, entertainment, and a photographer on location. This an an adults only (19+) event -- $15 in advance, or $20 at the door. It is highly recommend to reserve your ticket in advance, as this event sells out quickly!

Sunday, June 12th: Parade and Festival

The parade starts at noon in downtown Nanaimo and will wind its way along Front Street, ending at Maffeo Sutton Park. The parade is being held in conjunction with a festival in the park that begins after the parade at 1:00pm. Admission to the festival is free. There will be a play area, food trucks, beer garden, main-stage entertainment, vendors and more.

The Nanaimo Pride Society is also currently seeking volunteers and sponsors for Nanaimo Pride Week.
