Yes, this IS the parade you've been looking for! The Nanaimo Pride Society and the BC Ferry & Marine Workers' Union are proud to present the main event of our Pride Week 2018 celebrations: our Pride Parade and Festival!

On August 17, 1997, Pridefest culminated in Nanaimo's actual first parade which took place on the sidewalks of Nanaimo. In 2016 and 2017 our "first ever" and “second ever” Pride Parades stepped off the sidewalks and took the streets of downtown Nanaimo by storm. We saw almost 10,000 people attend our parade and festival. These are incredible events for all of us at the society, and a bright, rainbow filled day for all who come out to celebrate. :)

Staging for this year's parade will be on the upper half of Victoria Road, beginning at 10am sharp. Beginning at 12pm sharp, the parade sets off down Victoria Road, moving past Cavan Street, crossing Terminal Avenue onto Commercial Street. Then it moves along Commercial, veers onto Church Street, and then proceeds along Front Street, until it ends at the Festival at Maffeo Sutton Park.

Once at the park, there is a full afternoon of fun and entertainment for the whole family! We have our Kids Area back on site and sponsored by our friends, the Nanaimo Duncan & District Labour Council, featuring face painting, bouncy castle, and snow cones at no charge! We will host a full lineup of merchants, vendors and food trucks, as well as have a better than ever beer garden hosted by the Young Professionals of Nanaimo (YPN). Indie Entertainment will be powering our mainstage once again, with a special line up of community acts and youth performers, as well as our festival favourites - the Femme Fatale!
