Piano Recital "Great Russian Composers"

Sayuri Kubota returns to perform for Oceanside audiences, this time with all Russian music. She will play music composed by Glinka, Scriabin, Rachmaninoff, and more. Sayuri Kubota began taking piano lessons at the age of four. She once dreamed to be a professional pianist but became a mathematics teacher. After she moved to Canada, she did not play piano for over ten years. She realized that something important was missing in her life and resumed taking lessons with Ms. Teresa Marusarz-Borek. Sayuri performs regularly in recitals in Nanaimo.
In recent years, she participated in master classes with some acclaimed concert pianists including Krzysztof Jablonski, Anton Kuerti, Robert Silverman, and Janina Fialkowska. She has also participated in the Rocky Mountain Amateur Piano Competition (Colorado Springs) in 2009 and CBC’s Piano Hero contest this year.
Admission by donations with all proceeds going to the Oceanside Community Arts Council.
