Mushrooms can save the world. They form the foundation of ecosystems, they can restore damaged landscapes, clean up pollution, and heal our bodies and our planet.
Mushrooms are medicine. Mushrooms are catalysts for growth. Mushrooms are DELICIOUS!
Want to learn how to grow your own?
Not sure where to start?
Are you interested in learning a few tips and tricks from someone who's made many mushroom mistakes?
Maybe youve tried growing them and havent quite nailed it yet, or maybe youre intimidated by the process and arent sure where to start. Maybe youve already had success, and now you want to take it to the next level with latest in mycology.
This 2-day course is made just for you.
We will cover the all the essentials of small-scale mushroom spawn production. This class is tailored to the person seeking to grow edible and medicinal mushrooms for personal use or as a means to develop a small income stream. Saturday will begin with an introduction to the ins and outs of cultivation and related logistics. From there we cover the basics of sterile mushroom production from spores or cloned mushroom tissue, through working liquid culture, grains, and wood and straw based substrates to produce our own mushroom spawn. Sunday we will break the rules of the foundation we built on Saturday to learn the cutting edge techniques of low-tech cultivation, much of it unpublished at this time. We will also explore the aspects of cultivation for food sovereignty, medicine, and remediation (aka pollution reduction & mitigation).
Instructor Peter McCoy has been cultivating fungi for several years, learning the tricks and tips (along with the mistakes) that come with the trade. He has presented on fungi and taught cultivation at The Radical Mycology Convergence, The Olympia Transitions Fair, The Northwest Permaculture Convergence, and the Olympia Village Building Convergence.
If youre really serious about production, this weekend workshop will give you all the tools you need to be successful, whether you are a beginner or an expert.
Leave this course with full confidence, knowing that growing your own mushrooms can be cheap, fun, and empowering!
