Save Linley West: First General Public Meeting

Linley Valley West contains large tracts of environmentally sensitive areas; wetlands, deciduous woodlands including Garry oak ecosystem, and habitat for over 40 endangered species of birds, fish and amphibians. Cliffs in the north and south sides of the valley have unique microclimates that support rare species. Any impact resulting from increased development in Linley West, (e.g., roads, changes in hydrology and watershed resulting from excavation or blasting the cliffs, increased risk of interface fires) poses a risk to the east-centre Linley lands that are currently protected.

The initiative to protect Linley Valley West began when a developer's land clearing work on 62 acres caused serious damage to sensitive ecosystems. Concerns about the prospect of further damage to the rest of Linley Valley West prompted a group of citizens to form Save Linley ValleyWest. We have now arrived at the moment when the community can share ideas and help us with our new initiatives to save this area. We need you in the community to be there and save this area with us for future generations to enjoy. Once it is gone, it is gone forever...
