Seal Bay Comox Regional District Park Nature Walk by Comox Valley Environmental Council.

The Comox Valley Environmental Council is pleased to present a walk to the �Melda�s Marsh� area inside Seal Bay Park. Participants are asked to meet at the parking lot on Bates Road (49�45'36.70"N 124�58'18.06"W). The walk is by donation, suggested amount $5-$10, all proceeds going towards the fundraising campaign for the purchase of Maple Lake in Cumberland. The walk will be about 1� hours long. Please wear appropriate footwear if it has rained recently. No dogs please

Seal Bay is a wonderful little area of second growth forest, mixed understory vegetation, and with a little hidden pearl in the middle, Melda�s Marsh. The walk will concentrate on botany, and the uses of some of the plants, however some of the local history will also be featured.

The walk will be led by Luisa Ditmars who is a naturalist and organic gardener with interests in conservation and restoration of natural areas, medicinal plants, and supporting food security in Latin American countries. Local naturalist Dave Lacelle will assist.

The Comox Valley Environmental Council is a 20 year old �not for profit� organization which acts as an umbrella organization for representatives from about 18 environmental groups and local politicians. It meets four or five times a year, is always looking for new members, and the public is welcome to attend the meetings.
