The Canadian Mental Health Association Mid Island is proud to be hosting the fourth annual Shoppers Drug Mart Ride Don't Hide in Nanaimo! Everyone is invited to come participate, cyclists of all ages and skill levels from beginner to advanced in teams, or as individuals. Invite your family, friends and co-workers to ride with you for mental health.

This year we are having three rides. The first is a short ride along the Waterfront Walkway for families with young children.

We are inviting children to come with your bike decorated and join in the fun. After the ride enjoy the Kids Zone activities sponsored by Cabela’s at the park.

The second ride is a beginner/family ride- 16.5km street ride through residential areas. The cyclists will leave along the Harbourfront walkway, over Prideaux & Milton street to the historic areas of south Nanaimo. Returning through VIU, Buttertub Marsh and along Bowen Park back to the Harbourfront.

The third ride is for more experienced riders at 52.3km – The longer more challenging ride goes through both residential areas and beautiful countryside. The cyclists will leave along the Harbourfront walkway down Prideaux street to South Nanaimo and then continue along the Trans-Canada Hwy to Cranberry Ave. riding through the extension area, Nanaimo River Rd , Harewood, North Nanaimo, Country Club areas and back over the E & N Trail to the Waterfront.

Riders need to be able to average 17km an hour for the estimated time of 3 and 1/2 hours.two cycling routes. Registration for the 52.3km ride is at 8:00am with a ride start at 9:00am Registration for the 16.5 km and the short family ride is at 9:00am with a ride start at 10:00am Registration is $35.00 and includes a rider shirt. Kids 12 and under ride for free. T-shirt may be purchased for $12.00 each

The fun community fundraiser includes entertainment, prizes including a Bicycle for the highest fundraiser donated by Pacific Rim Bicycle, community booths, a BBQ, Kids Zone sponsored by Cabela's, fun for the whole family. All funds raised at our event will be used locally to provide mental health public education. Can't ride a bike?
