The ‘Essence’ show is profoundly influenced by method and possibility. ‘Essence’ showcases luminous paintings featuring liquid effects akin to watercolour paintings. The soak-stain method is inspired by Helen Frankenthaler’s exhibition at the Berggruen Gallery in San Francisco. The process has resulted in transparent layers of reduced hues and biomorphic forms saturated in colour, all stirred by East Bay urban elements and Vancouver Island vistas.
