add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
The third Women in Leadership panel discussion is sponsored by the Society of Friends of St. Ann’s Academy (SFSAA), and the Faculty of Education, University of Victoria. Drawing from feedback from the sold-out Women in Leadership Conference held in October 2016, it was apparent that the community needs to continue the conversations of gender justice and change.
The discussion will centre on what feminism means to women from different walks of life and the challenges they face in their respective roles. Dr. Kathy Sanford, a UVic Professor in the Faculty of Education with chair the panel. “Feminism is for everybody who believes in equality and justice for all – today’s world desperately needs strong feminist voices and perspectives to redress power imbalances and to change the world”.
The panel will include: Dr. Val Napoleon, UVic Law Foundation Chair of Aboriginal Justice & Director of Indigenous Law Research Unit; Dr. Astrid Pérez Piñán, Assistant Professor at UVic School of Public Administration; Layla Robbie from West Coast LEAF; and Jennifer Dayton, Grade 11 student from Claremont Secondary School. Lifecycles Project Society will provide light refreshments made from fresh produce. Admission to the panel discussion is by donation.
