The Fleeting Armada: Music of England and Spain
Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 8 pm
Doors open at 6:45 pm
Alix Goolden Hall, 907 Pandora at Quadra
The English defeated the Armada in 1588, but the invasion of Spanish culture could not be repelled. The fruits of this invasion are apparent in melancholic lute songs of Downland, rollicking country dances, virtuosic improvisations, passionate cancins and the invigorating Folia.
"The singing of Linda Tsatsanis is ravishing." New York Times
