Raincoast Voices is delighted to announce its presentation of "The Many Faces of Love"at Providence Farm Chapel, 1843 Tzouhalem Road in Duncan, on Sunday, April 29th, at 7:30 pm. Admission at the door is $15 for adults and $5 for students.
This newly formed group of eight singers is a collaboration of talent, experience, and the love of singing. The program will be primarily Renaissance polyphony - a celebration of divinely interweaving melodies. This seductive music includes the otherworldlySalve Reginaof Ockeghem, the delicious chansons of La Rue, and the drama-laden love songs of Gesualdo. Also on the program is contemporary composer Gyrgy Orban's exhilaratingStabat Mater.
The music is mostly sung one voice to a part, which requires solid musicianship, but allows greater clarity of voice colour and interpretation. The singers are Elizabeth MacIsaac, Eve Richardson, Rebecca Claborn, Tamara SunSong, Ian Bullen, Robert Fraser, Nathan McDonald, and Paul Boughen.
This program takes us on a journey through the human experience of love, one that is at times powerful, charming, and sublime, ranging from extravagant romantic drama to profound spiritual devotion. You will be amazed at what you hear - and how you are moved - by Raincoast Voices and "The Many Faces of Love."
