“Listening to Michael Kaeshammer play live is like looking through a window into one of the greatest creative musical minds in the world today.”
– DOWNBEAT
Internationally acclaimed musician MICHAEL KAESHAMMER has toured the world showcasing his talents as a singer, songwriter, pianist & producer. His passion for creating exceptional music is abundantly clear, as he combines flavours of jazz, boogie-woogie and blues with meticulous detail.
Kaeshammer is a two-time JUNO Award winner and eight-time nominee for “Vocal Jazz Album of the Year,” having been most recently nominated in 2018 in this category for the album No Filter. His newest album, Something New, came out this past April. Produced by Michael himself, it features 10 original songs about love, life, travel and politics. Recorded at the historic Esplanade Studios in the heart of New Orleans’ Tremé district, Kaeshammer along with Big Easy legends Cyril Neville (The Neville Brothers), George Porter Jr (The Meters), Johnny Vidacovich (Professor Longhair), the New Orleans Nightcrawlers Brass Band and Canadian bassist David Piltch (k.d. lang) create an eclectic sonic ride.
Michael Kaeshammer will be joined in Victoria on the Something New tour by New Orleans’ musicians Johnny Vidacovich on drums and David Piltch on bass, amongst others. This will be Kaeshammer’s first theatre performance in Victoria since 2016.
