Open to everyone, the family-friendly event offers a full day of cultural performances, traditional music, hands-on workshops, Métis artisans, food vendors, demonstrations, and activities for all ages. Visitor admission is by donation, and camping is available on both Friday and Saturday nights.

Opening ceremonies begin at 9:30 a.m. with a welcome from the Cowichan Tribes Dancers, followed by greetings from special guests and a special preview performance by the Ivan Flett Memorial Dancers, one of Canada's premier Métis dance groups.

Entertainment continues throughout the day from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., featuring an outstanding lineup of Métis performers and musicians. Visitors can also enjoy interactive traditional Voyageur Games, including a Tipi raising competition and a Red River Cart Relay plus the first Vancouver Island Métis Rendezvous Traditional Jigging Competition, where dancers of all ages will compete for cash prizes and celebrate one of the most recognized traditions of Métis culture.

"The Vancouver Island Métis Rendezvous is an opportunity to bring people together to celebrate the rich history, traditions, and living culture of the Métis people," said the organizing committee. "Whether you have Métis roots or are simply interested in learning more, everyone is welcome to join us for a day of friendship, learning, music, and celebration."

The Rendezvous is dedicated to sharing Métis culture through authentic experiences that encourage understanding, respect, and community connections while learning about the unique contributions of the Métis Nation to Canada.

About Vancouver Island Métis Rendezvous

The Vancouver Island Métis Rendezvous is an annual celebration of Métis culture, heritage, and community that brings together families, artists, musicians, dancers, knowledge keepers, and visitors from across British Columbia. Through music, dance, storytelling, workshops, traditional foods, and cultural experiences, the Rendezvous promotes awareness, education, and appreciation of the rich and vibrant Métis heritage while welcoming people of all backgrounds to celebrate together. It is organized by collaboration of the seven Métis Chartered Communities of Vancouver Island and Powell River, who form the Vancouver Island Metis Rendezvous Association.
