Paul O’Brien was born and raised Irish Catholic in an English inner city. He spent twenty-odd years playing traditional Celtic music at pubs, folk clubs, and festivals before moving to Victoria in 2004, where he discovered his gift for songwriting. Paul has since released two critically acclaimed solo albums. http://paulobrien.ca/
Ivonne Hernandez is the reigning five-time Grand North American Fiddle Champion and a member of The Fretless, a folk supergroup that has won numerous awards, including Ensemble of the Year at the 2014 CFMAs. She has performed at folk and fiddle festivals around the world. http://ivonnehernandez.com/
Paul and Ivonne’s collaboration as a duo is a new project for the two accomplished local musicians.

Our feature act will be preceded by what is arguably Victoria’s best weekly acoustic Open Stage session where musicians from fledglings to professionals can perform a 10 minute set for one of the most welcoming, attentive and participative audiences in town. Aspiring Open Stage performers can sign-up with the VFMS Host between 7:00 and 7:30pm to do a set but should get there early to improve their chances of getting on the evening’s line-up.
