7:30 PM

The Chimney Swallows are singer-songwriters Raghu Lokanathan and Corwin Fox. This duo aims to set songs free to be everything they can be, from art to mischief to protest to prayer. They sing in harmony, pick guitar and banjo, squeeze an accordion, and tell stories.

Now based on Vancouver Island, Corwin divides his career between live performances and his highly acclaimed work as a record producer. Raghu, who calls Prince George home, is an artful dabbler in a variety of folk traditions. Since playing their first gigs at the Victoria Public Library, they've been steadily refining their sound at clubs, cafes, and house concerts all over the province.

Our feature act will be preceded by what is arguably Victoria’s best weekly acoustic Open Stage session where musicians from fledglings to professionals can perform a 10 minute set for one of the most welcoming, attentive and participative audiences in town. Aspiring Open Stage performers can sign-up with the VFMS Host between 7:00 and 7:30pm to do a set but should get there early to improve their chances of getting on the evening’s line-up.
