Victoria Harmony Choir Christmas Concert - Alle Jahre wieder

This year, we named our concert "Alle Jahre wieder" (It happens every year) after one of the best known Christmas carols in the German language. Our program is varied and one of its highlights is a 1655 cantata "Ihr lieben Hirten" by Andreas Hammerschmidt; another is a Swiss "Sterndrehermarsch" that takes the listener on a trek through a snow bedecked landscape of glistening beauty and quiet, and this is contrasted by a sweet Christmas lullaby in calypso style, "Sleep Little Tiny King."
Various European traditions are represented with a selection of songs in German, English, Russian (Bajuschki baju) and Ukrainian (Na svjat vechir --On Christmas Eve). The concert closes with a sing-a-long followed by coffee and cake.
Director: Dr. Garry Froese; Pianist: Iryna Graifer; Soloist: Gina Johnson. We do hope you will enjoy this year's Christmas concert which has been an annual tradition for the Victoria Harmony Choir since its inception in 1961.
