World Oceans Day Celebration

What is World Oceans Day, you ask? Think of it as Earth Day�s salty cousin. This U.N.-designated holiday was established to raise global awareness on issues relating to the ocean. The Shaw Ocean Discovery Centre will be celebrating with a free event taking place on the grass behind the aquarium/Pier Hotel building. (Beacon Park) Activities will include: underwater exploration with an ROV, facepainting, a live performance from local band Cookeilidh, and various booths with participants including: the Institute of Ocean Sciences, Parks Canada, CRD, BC Hydro, VI Regional Library, and more*! Bring your kids, your dog, and your desire to learn more about our beautiful oceans! As an added bonus, the Shaw Ocean Discovery Centre is offering a discount on admission for the entire day: one child (17yrs or younger) admitted free with each paid adult.
